General Information  

Fasting:  Please do not allow your pet to eat after 10:00pm the night prior to surgery. Water is okay up until the time of drop off.  If on medication, please give as prescribed and let the receptionist know at drop off.  

Drop off time:  Please drop off your pet on between 7:30am and 8:00am.  If you are going to be late for any reason, please call ahead, 402.884.3383  

Pick up time:  Please pick up your pet between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, unless our staff contacts you otherwise.  Fort Street Veterinarian closes at 5:30pm and those patients no picked up by then will spend the night at an additional charge of $19.00.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.  

After your pet’s procedure one of our staff members will call you to let you know how your pet is doing.  Please leave a number at which we can reach you, so that we can notify you when your pet is done or if any questions/situations arise during the procedure.  

There is a short surgical release form that needs to be filled out on the day of surgery.  Please allow 5-10 minutes for drop off on the morning of surgery.  

To ensure the best care of your pets please inform the receptionist on any previously diagnosed heart, liver, kidney conditions.   

Options you have for pet’s surgery:  

Pre-anesthetic blood screening: Basic pre-anesthetic blood screen:

Glucose, BUN (kidney), ALT (liver), TP (detects hydration status), PCV (detects anemia).  This blood work is done in office and will be pulled the morning of surgery.  $31.00  

Declining blood work: By declining blood work, preexisting (genetic/acquired) conditions of the liver, kidney and blood cannot be detected and that could increase your pet’s anesthetic risk.  

Home Again Pet Recovery (microchip): In the United State 1 in 3 pets will get lost, without ID 90% won’t return home.  Every 6 minutes a pet is recovered with Home Again.  Microchipping is simple, safe, effective and is a permanent form of identification.  $20.00
